Tom Affolter, Managing Director, Business Development
Tom Affolter joined Garrington’s equipment and real estate finance joint venture partner, Align Business Finance, in October 2021. He is currently Managing Director, Portfolio Development at Garrington Capital. Tom is responsible for sourcing, structuring, and leading the execution of new investment opportunities.
Tom has over 20 years of debt and equity investment experience in a variety of roles. Prior to Align Business Finance, he spent time at Goldman Sachs’ Specialty Lending Group in Chicago. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Tom was a partner at Victory Park Capital Advisors, and has served in various positions at CIT and GE Capital (separately via GE’s acquisitions of both Antares Capital and Heller Financial). Over his career, he has focused on middle market secured lending opportunities for leveraged buyouts, refinancings, recapitalizations and turnarounds in both private equity sponsored and non-sponsored transactions.
Tom has a BS in Accounting from Marquette University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Robert Colgan, Managing Director, Business Development
Bob Colgan came to the Garrington via his factoring franchise in 2011. He currently works as a Loan Originator in our ABL, specialty and equipment finance groups.
Bob has worked in various positions within the Private Debt lending space for the past three decades. Previously, Bob worked on Wall Street, primarily with Jefferies & Company, in equity capital markets roles, and has become very creative in business development and execution. Bob’s experience with underdog type firms, ingrained the drive that getting the deal done is paramount and Bob brings that focus to his current business.
Bob has a B.S. degree in Finance from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado.
James Franz, Business Development
Jamie Franz joined Garrington in 2018 as Senior Advisor. His main role at Garrington is to help build and advise on the asset-based lending business.
Jamie has over three decades of experience in investment management, sales management and loan origination for both commercial and consumer banking, asset-based lending and factoring. Prior to joining Garrington, Jamie was a Managing Director at Ares Management, a $121 billion fund manager based in New York. He was a Regional Manager responsible for the Northeast, Midwest and Canada for Ares Commercial Finance, an asset-based lending fund. James sat on both the Management Committee and the Investment Committee and helped grow the fund from $150 million to over $1 billion in less than 4 years.
Jamie earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from St. Bonaventure University.
John Levac, Senior Advisor, Business Development
John Levac has been an Advisor to the Garrington for over 5 years. John is primarily responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing investment opportunities.
His combined 30 plus years of experience in the Senior secured leverage markets has been a strategic advantage in growing the Garrington loan portfolio. Prior to joining Garrington, John spent 5 years in senior roles at RBC Capital Markets, Wells Fargo Foothill and Gordon Brothers. John has an extensive 30-year background in corporate finance, which includes Capital Markets, asset-based lending, distressed debt/CCAA restructuring, real estate, equipment and leasing.
John has an Honours Bachelor of Commerce in Corporate Finance and Accounting and has completed his Canadian Securities Course (CSC).
Sam Tork, Managing Director, Business Development
Sam Tork is Managing Director for Garrington and is primarily responsible for origination efforts throughout the United States. He takes great care in building trust with clients and prospects by working closely with referral sources in re-capitalizing their respective businesses.
Sam has spent the previous 20+ years in the commercial banking and asset-based lending industry, with the most recent fifteen years in executive management. His extensive background in corporate finance includes capital markets, asset-based lending, distressed debt/CCAA restructuring, real estate, equipment and leasing.
Sam has a Bachelor’s Degree in Corporate Finance from the University of Alabama and an MBA from Texas Christian University.

Robinson Manson, Senior Vice President, Business Development
Robinson Manson joined Garrington in 2018. In his role of Senior Vice President for Atlantic Canada, Robinson is responsible for loan origination and initial credit review of alternative loans including asset-based loans, receivable financing, and lender finance.
Prior to joining Garrington, Robinson worked on international equity and derivatives desks. Robinson’s most recent position was as the Regional Vice President of a $3 billion Toronto based hedge fund company that specialized in private debt. He has also worked with a regional institutional fixed income dealer where he worked his way to Managing Partner.
Robinson attended Dalhousie University where he graduated with a BSc degree.
Jaclyn Richard, Vice-President, Business Development
Jaclyn Richard joined Garrington in 2021 and is Vice President, Portfolio Development. Jaclyn is primarily responsible for origination efforts throughout Canada.
Jaclyn has over 14 years of experience championing extraordinary customer experiences for corporate and start-up, alongside nine years selling traditional and niche investments across Western Canada. Relationship building is at the forefront of her career.
Previously, Jaclyn was a Director for a start-up success story in Western Canada, successfully seeing the company from start-up phase to acquisition.
Richard Goode, Senior Advisor, Business Development
Rich joined Garrington as a Strategic Advisor in March 2021. His relationship with Garrington started through its primary capital provider, Next Edge Capital, where he is an Executive Vice President, focusing on Sales and Marketing within the Canadian retail financial advisory and family office channels. With Garrington, Rich is primarily responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing investment opportunities.
Prior to joining Next Edge Capital, Rich was Managing Director and Head of Sales at Ninepoint Partners/Sprott Asset Management, a leading independent asset manager. During his 6 years with Ninepoint Partners/Sprott Asset Management, he led a team of over 25 sales and marketing professionals, assisting in the raising of over $3 billion in alternative investments by working with Canadian retail Financial Advisors to position complex alternative investment strategies within their clients’ portfolios. Rich began his financial career at BluMont Capital Corp. in 2000, culminating in his appointment as National Sales Manager in 2006, a position which he held until 2013.
Richard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Windsor.
